Dr. Abaza has performed over 7,250 robotic surgeries for prostate cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, and other urologic conditions. This makes him the most experienced robotic surgeon in Ohio in any specialty and among the top 5 most experienced in the World. Dr. Abaza puts this experience and expertise to use for every single patient with the goal of providing a world-class outcome for each patient he treats. For this reason, Dr. Abaza's outcomes are best in class and for many measures remain unmatched by any other surgeon. Dr. Abaza is one of few surgeons who has a team collecting data on every robotic surgery patient, and he uses his outcomes data to constantly follow and improve the quality of our care.
Dr. Abaza and his team not only do their best to give every patient the best possible robotic surgery and postoperative care, but we also realize that while we battle cancer every day, our patients will hopefully only go through cancer surgery once. Because it is a once-in-a-lifetime event and can cause a lot of anxiety, we strive to make the experience as comfortable as possible and reassure our patients every step of the way. We make sure they know exactly what to expect and are always available for any questions or concerns that might arise. Our ultimate goal is to treat our patients like family so that they trust us enough to send us their friends and family if they ever need our help too, and this is actually now how many patients find us.
Dr. Abaza pioneered several complex robotic surgery procedures for conditions that were once thought impossible to treat robotically. As the first in the world to perform numerous cutting-edge robotic procedures, he has not only contributed to the advancement of robotic surgery, but Dr. Abaza uses his expertise to provide a higher quality of robotic surgery for even the most common conditions and a higher quality of care for every patient.
Dr. Abaza collects data on all of his robotic surgery patients, including over 600 data points for every prostate cancer patient, to insure they are getting the best care and to share his techniques and outcomes with the medical community through publications, research presentations, and invited lectures around the World as well as by welcoming visiting surgeons to observe his techniques.
Dr. Abaza treats patients from all around the country. Many patients drive 2-3 hours or more or fly to Columbus by plane for surgery with Dr. Abaza. We do our best to serve your needs in as few visits as possible and to make sure you will be comfortable traveling here for your surgery. Out of town patients who are not in driving distance can usually schedule a video consultation with Dr. Abaza prior to their surgery so that their treatment can be all in one trip. We are usually able to arrange for lab, imaging, and preoperative testing on the same day as your appointment to minimize the number of trips to our facility. Dr. Abaza also works closely with many of the urologists in the region so that patients referred for robotic surgery can eventually return to their local urologist for long-term care closer to home.
Our goal is to keep you informed at every step and to make sure you always know what to expect. Click here for detailed information about Robotic Prostate and Kidney Surgery with Dr. Abaza.
